The Antient York Chapter
of Redemption No:68
The Antient
York Chapter of Redemption No 68 is one of the oldest Rose Croix
Chapters in the country having been consecrated on 9th
February 1876. The Chapter now meets at Beverley Road having moved
from Dagger Lane in 2005.
The Rose
Croix is a Christian Order with the qualifications that a member
must have been a Master Mason for at least one full year, be in good
standing with the Craft, and must profess the Trinitarian Christian
faith. In addition, the Antient York Chapter of Redemption requires
that Candidates must be a Master or Past Master, or Warden or Past
Warden, of a Craft Lodge.
The Order
is known as the “Ancient and Accepted Rite” and comprises
thirty-three Degrees of which the three are those of Craft Masonry.
Above all
it is a joyous Order, and one in which the bonds of Masonic
friendship are strengthened.
The
Antient York Chapter of Redemption meets on the first Tuesday in
February, April, September and November, the February meeting being
the Enthronement (Installation).
It is not
an expensive Order, for although it costs about £90 to join at
present (which includes the full first years subscription) the only
regalia required is a collar and jewel which can be obtained from
Albion Regalia for about £120 (although sometimes a second-hand
collar can be obtained) and a Rose Croix tie which costs about
£10. The annual subscription for 2007 is £37.
