Peter Sellers (1925 - 1980)
English actor.  Pink Panther, Goon Show, etc.  Chelsea Lodge No.3098, London.

 

Elias Ashmole
English antiquarian.  Donated his remarkable collection to Oxford University in 1677 to found the Ashmolean Museum.  Founder member of the Royal Society and became the first known English speculative Mason at Warrington, Lancashire, in 1646.

Sir William "Billy" Butlin (1899 - 1980)

 

Capt Robert Falcon Scott, RN  (1868 - 1912)
English polar explorer, perished in Antarctica.  Drury Lane Lodge No. 2127, London also Navy Lodge No. 2612.

Sir Ernest Shackleton
 (1874 - 1922)
English polar explorer.
 

Samuel Wesley(1766 - 1837)
 

Sir Arthur Sullivan (1842 - 1900)
English composer,  but also composed much well known church music, such as Onward Christian Soldiers.  Grand Organist of the UGLE.
 

Sir William S. Gilbert (1836 - 1911)
English poet and playwright,   Was the librettis for 'Pirates of Penzance'.  St. Machar Lodge No. 54, Aberdeen, Scotland

 

Robbie Burns (1759 - 1796)
The National Poet of Scotland.  His lyrics, written in dialect and infused with humor, celebrate love, patriotism, and rustic life.  Freemasonry was more important to him than any other institution in Scotland!  St. David's Lodge No. 174, Tarbolton, Scotland.
 

Dr Edward Jenner (1749 - 1823)
English physician whose discovery of the principle of vaccination led ultimately to the complete eradication of smallpox.  Faith and Friendship Lodge No. 270, Berkeley

Sir Alexander Fleming (1881 - 1955)
Scottish bacteriologist, discovered penicillin.  Held Grand Office in the UGLE
 

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930)

English novelist and creator of Sherlock Holmes.  Phoenix Lodge No. 257, Portsmouth.

Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936)
English writer, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.

 

Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles
English colonist.  Founder of Singapore and, on his return to London, of the Zoological Society.

Oscar O'Flahertie Wills Wilde
Anglo-Irish wit and dramatist, The importance of being Earnest.  Apollo University Lodge No. 357, Oxford.

John Paul Jones
Scottish born seaman, he became a naval hero and 'Father of the U. S. Navy'.  He later commanded Russian naval ships in their war against the Ottoman empire.  St. Bernard Lodge No. 122 (now St. Cuthbert No. 41), Kirkudbright, Scotland.

Sir Christopher Wren
Responsible for the design of St. Paul's Cathedral.  Lodge of Antiquity No. 2, London (attributed)

Sir Joseph Banks
Responsible for the design of Kew Gardens, London.
